Introduction/July 2016

Hello! My name is Carlee Brandenburg. On June 22, I have turned 22. Starting in a few days I will be starting my new job as a Computer Repair Technician for a school district. I have one dog, one cat, and one fish (so far). As for my family, I have an older sister (she is married and lives in Utah) and a younger brother (who also lives with me and my family). I like to spend my free time traveling, watching anime, learning new things, listening to music, and doing crafts.

This is Hirohito. His name is Japanese and it means abundant benevolence and is also the name of a former Japanese Emporer (who is also known as Emporer Shōwa). Hirohito is a Veiltail Betta and I have had him for 5 months (as of today).

This is Droopy. He is technically my brother's dog, but since I live with my family at the moment, I will include him in the list. He is 5 years old, but has been with my family for four years. Droopy is mostly beagle, but he is also part lab. He enjoys going on walks and begging for food.

This is Kitty Kitty Meow Meow. She is formerly known as Shadow, but she answers to her name she is now and not Shadow. I don't know her actual age, but I have had her since May 09 of this year. She is very hyper and talkative, but I wouldn't have her any other way.

I have another blog which I update every now and then called carleeembrandenburg.blogspot.com. That blog is where I post different writing pieces about various subjects and different mediums of writing (recipes, essays, research papers, etc.). I created this blog so that way my personal blog posts wouldn't clutter my writing pieces. Make sure to check out both blogs when you have the chance.

This month has been absolutely amazing. At the beginning I got to drive the longest I have ever driven, where I was alone with my cat for a whole entire week since the rest of my family were in the Twin Cities. During that week, I got to hang out with one of my best friends and experience a food truck festival, watch Cunning Single Lady through YouTube, find a new vlog channel I thoroughly enjoy (VlogAfterCollege), go to the new Asian Marketplace that opened up an hour away from my home, and go on drives around the Reservation I live on.

When that week ended, my parents and my brother got back home from their travels. Since my dad had a summer class for his doctorate, he didn't stay home for very long. So it was mainly just my mom, brother, and I for the rest of July. I got to go to the Asian Marketplace a couple more times, once with my brother, and another time with another one of my best friends so she could explore and get some food for her family. However, most of the time was spent so I could help my mom prepare for her ankle/foot surgery.

On July 20, my mom had her foot/ankle surgery. It went pretty good. We traveled an hour for her surgery, since that is where the closest hospital that my family is able to go to is located. However, my mom thought that she would have to go to the doctor, so she and I went back an hour so we could stay at a hotel nearby in case she had to go to the ER. For the couple days I was with my mom for her recovery we did not have to go to the ER or her doctor luckily. So instead, we just spent time watching TV, eating good food, and played around on our laptops. I also got to run errands too, which is one of my favorite things to do (since it involves driving around).

July 22nd was when I went back to Ames to hang out with my cousins since it was one of the cousins birthday. For his birthday he and I went to Warped Tour in Shakopee, MN. It was my second time going to a Warped Tour concert and it was his first time going to Warped Tour. We didn't really go check out any of the bands this year, but we did walk around and listen to the sets that were playing as we walked. He got a couple hats and I got a bracelet, a year subscription to Alternative Press, some candy, and the official program. I also got to meet one of the major contributors to Alternative Press magazine Nick Major. Overall, it was pretty fun, but I think I will rather go every other year instead of every year since it tends to be very hot and humid when I go.

My cousin and I while we were waiting in line. It was a three hour drive, so we left at 530 am and got there at about 840 am. We were lucky to have gotten to the fest at this early of a time because we were in the slight beginning of the line and the line got really long, really fast.

When I got to meet Nick Major. Nick is one of the main contributors to Alternative Press and he was a really cool guy

Tomorrow, I get to drive 10 hours again to get home, so I will have a very long day but a very fun day too.
